Florida has the 3rd largest prison population in America. Annually, just under 30,000 citizens return to communities from incarceration - without a place to call home. While there are many subpopulations of persons experiencing homelessness, citizens returning to communities from incarceration are among our country's most vulnerable due to high barriers to attaining housing which then causes a higher risk of recidivism into the justice system. Not only does access to affordable housing improves the quality of someone’s life, it also makes our communities stronger and more resilient. Making housing options available to those reentering our communities also improves outcomes related to education, physical, cognitive, and behavioral health, and offers safer more fulfilling lives for all. Learn more about how reentry initiatives are utilizing master leasing, roommate matching and various dwelling types to help those needing to find home again.
