Factory-built housing is one of the solutions for affordable production. Though there are many potential benefits, including precision built housing with cost savings, the share of factory-built housing nationally is less than 10%. In this forum, experts in finance and industry professionals will clarify terminology, such as the difference between manufactured and modular, and have an honest and open conversation about what are true challenges and what are lingering myths. Topics covered include land use and zoning, building codes and permitting, financing, production, delivery, design, resilience, and perception issues. Local governments, developers, and consumers who have avoided factory built housing in the past, may come away with an important piece of the solution for moving forward.
